Safety Policy

1. Safety Inspections and Preventive Measures

  • The primary responsibility of an employee is to execute the work under safe working conditions with loss preventive measures.
  • Every employee shall familiarize himself with COMPANY safety rules and shall follow the same while performing the work
  • Before commencing the work, the Safety Engineer shall ensure safe working conditions by periodic inspection of Worksite, equipment, material conditions, etc. and shall arrange to rectify unsafe working conditions.
  • The proper usage of all protective gears is essential
  • First-aid kit shall be made available at the Work site, and all employees shall know the location and contents of the kit.
  • The Worksite shall be equipped with fire protection equipment
  • Hazard signals, safety rules precautions, and resuscitation techniques shall be displayed at prominent places
  • Good housekeeping shall be maintained on the Worksite
  • Adequate illumination shall be provided in dark places

2.Safety Training

Safety Trainings shall be conducted to Supervisors, Workmen, Employees learning new trade, etc. on safe working practices and up date with current safety technology and practices. Safety technology and practices, safety training shall be carried out as per guidelines in COMPANY Construction safety manual and COMPANY Loss Prevention Program.

3. Assignment of Responsibility on the part of Main and Sub-Contractors

Responsibilities of the personnel employed in the execution of project, with regards to Loss Prevention are defined as follows:

3.1 Construction Manager

  • Understand COMPANY’s and COMPANY Safety manuals and responsibilities
  • Know the requirement of Schedule “D” and relevant. Saudi Arab Government workers regulations and ensure that they are observed
  • Ensure that tenders adequately allow for sound working methods and reasonable welfare facilities
  • Provide written instruction to establish work method, explain the sequence of operations, outline potential hazards at each stage and indicate precautions to be adopted
  • Check over work method and precautions with supervision before work start.
  • Create safety awareness by promoting safety-meeting presentations, Open forum discussions by implementing safety training
  • Set a personal example on site by wearing appropriate PPE at all times
  • Ensure all accidents are reported to the COMPANY

3.2 Project Engineer and QA/QC Engineer

  • Knows the requirement of Contract Documents and relevant subjects of Government Workmen’s Regulations.
  • Inspect work site daily.
  • Ensures that Work permit procedures are followed in restricted areas.
  • Is familiar with COMPANY Work Permit procedures.
  • Recommends ideas for Safety improvement.
  • Maintains good housekeeping.
  • Ensures work as per standards with minimum risk.
  • Ensures maintenance of tools and tackles.
  • Gives proper instruction to foreman/workmen regarding safe working.
  • Checks periodic testing, routine inspection and preventive maintenance.
  • Motivates employees to work safely.
  • Attends job progress meetings in which safety problems are reviewed.
  • Conducts investigation of accidents, analyze causes and recommend preventive measures to be followed.
  • Assist in Safety Training.
  • Adjusts to change in Safety requirements.
  • Set a personal example.

3.3 Safety Officer

  • Fully aware and ensure compliance of COMPANY construction safety manual and Schedule ‘D” of Contract document.
  • Inspects work site daily.
  • Conducts weekly safety meeting.
  • Is familiar with COMPANY work permit procedure.
  • Ensure safety procedures in the work area.
  • Site Inspection on daily basis shall be conducted by safety officer to monitor safety measures on the following activities;
  • 1) Excavation
    2) Scaffolds and Ladders used.
    3) Temporary electrical wiring.
    4) Condition of various equipment and tools used.
    5) Fire extinguishers provided.
    6) Personnel Protective Clothing and Equipment.
    7) First aid kits.
  • Periodic checking of welfare facilities such as dining area, toilet facilities, drinking water, etc., and maintain hygiene living and working conditions at site and camp.
  • Set a personal example.
